Diana Gabaldon is my favourite author of all time. I have never had such intense reactions to reading any books, as I have had while reading the “Outlander” series of books. She made me believe in her characters to the extent that I felt that they were real and fell in love (or hate, as the case may be) with them. She also made me laugh and cry countless times, and to wish to travel to 18th century Scotland and experience some of the adventures that Jamie and Claire live through.
I have been reading the books since July of 2015 and have read all 8 books 5 times to date.
I have travelled to Scotland 6 times since 2015 and have fallen in love with the country.
My love for history has been awakened, with the result that I find it interesting to read more about the characters in Outlander which were real people, and which Diana has incorporated in her books.
I have also discovered that historical fiction/ historical romances are my favourite genre.
I have had the pleasure to meet Diana in March of 2018, at her hotel in Paris, and to spend an hour with her over drinks. It was an incredible experience, with non-stop talking (and laughing) about the show, the books, the actors and the production staff of the show. I found her to be kind, generous, extremely intelligent and talented, humble, humorous and friendly.
Here are some pictures from that evening:
